Katrina has gone through many transitional periods in her lifetime. After the death of her mother, her father, due to grief, was unable to care for his children so at the age of 19 she found herself 8 months pregnant needing a place to live for herself, younger sister with IDD and unborn child. She had no time to react but had to act and through her journey she learned to survive through the hardships in life. She was able to successfully graduate with her Master in Social Work with a concentration in Macro and Community practice from UNC-Chapel Hill. While working in the field she was able to help a diverse group of individuals and families at some of the lowest points in their lives and at the same time gain experience in supervising and managing counselors, multidisciplinary teams within a facility and grant funded programs. This combination of skills with life experience makes her vital to the organization.
Ronald is a survivor in every sense of the word. At an incredibly early age due to his mother’s severe mental health issues Ronald and his sisters were removed from her care and his father, who was remarried, was given full custody, making him a part of a blended family. After years of struggling to fit in, Ronald decided to enroll in the armed forces and make it a career like other men in his family however after a debilitating injury to his back he was honorably discharged. Transitioning back to civilian life was tough to navigate with little aid however after years of trials and error Ronald has found purpose in his pain. He has learned so many lessons in the rebuilding of his life and now wants to share with other men and veterans the knowledge he has gained.
